From Vision Forum’s “Baby Conference”
*This is meant to whet your appetite, and to highlight some things that stood out to me, but not to be a complete summary of the session. If you have questions about the context of something I quote, please feel free to ask in the comments!*
Kevin Swanson opened, telling a story about a child in his church who many would consider a vegetable. He pointed out that America’s houses are biggest than ever, and its families are smaller than ever, which would lead him to believe that Americans like drywall better than people.
He spoke of living out our pro-life claims, taking on the children others would reject. Jesus calls us to take up our cross daily, and what better way to do so than to take in more children?
The last line of Margaret Sanger’s most important book (in her own words) is “We will have Jesus without a cross.” The cross is terribly important, and our culture wants to destroy its work.
RC Sproul Jr. then told the story of his daughter, Shannon. She has rather severe disabilities, yet she is so joyful. I don’t think I can do justice to the story, so I hope you will have a chance to read it or hear it from him.
