We like to make “green eggs” by blending a dozen or so eggs (for our family of 7) in our Vita-Mix with any and all green vegetables. In the photos below the boys are cutting and tearing up leeks, but we’ve also used such things as asparagus, broccoli, green onions (or regular onions, but you won’t get the greenest eggs), and even leafy greens.
Did you know a child as young as three can learn to crack eggs? This is something that hadn’t occurred to me, but my mom taught both my brothers how to do so. When you’re making as many as we do at one time it’s helpful to have a little helper! Just make sure that your little person knows what their thumbs are before you start… 😉
A small, very dull knife (such as a butter knife) is perfect for learning to cut things. Daniel is showing off his red knife in one of the pictures below.
